I'm Back!!!

A year later and I am back on the west coast. I arrived yesterday after a pretty uneventful flight. Well...actually...it wasn't completely uneventful. I guess it began rocky since my flight was to leave at 6:00 a.m. and I was just finishing going through security at 6:00 a.m. I waited in line to check luggage and go through security for over 50 minutes. Crazy ridiculous. This lead to me running towards the gate all to learn that they were waiting for several other passengers. Ok...great...I'm not the only one. Well then I get on the plane to see a man in my seat. They told me they had moved him and that I would just have to find a different seat. Um...ok. I found a seat only to move when the real occupants got on the plane. In the end found a window seat and all was well. I arrived at Newark and had a little breakfast while waiting for my next flight. Some more drama was headed my way. We got on, got settled, all to wait on the runway for almost an hour. FABULOUS. I don't think I have ever had a flight that went according to plan.
Nevertheless, I arrived in Portland, greeted by two of the cutest kids ever, Gwynn and Paige. Oh yeah, Auntie Mar was there too. We headed straight home where the girls were ready to play. They watched me unpack and get settled and then we headed outside. I had heard that it was in the 90's the week before but I apparently brought the cold with me. We had a silly time, whacking each other with some noodles we found in the shed. We have fun no matter what we're doing.

I tried to head to bed early to make up for the three hour difference. It helped. I was up at 7:30 and felt pretty refreshed. Paige was definitely the most excited to see me up. After Auntie Mar and Uncle Mark headed off to work, we had a little fun "chatting" online. It didn't matter that Gwynn was using the laptop on my bed and that Paige and I were using the desktop in my room, we still sent each other silly messages.

We ended up hopping on our bikes and heading down to Waluga Park. On our way, we stopped at a berry stand to see what they had today. We knew we wanted to get some fruit on our way back but we also got a pint of raspberries to enjoy at the park. Even though it was cloudy and chilly, the girls still had fun on the swings and play structure. I think they also enjoyed playing hid and seek. Somehow, they're always able to find me. I give Gwynn the award for finding the best hiding place of the day.
What better way to end the afternoon than with a movie rented from Redbox...just gotta remember to return the movie...right Dad??? The girls decided on Bride Wars. You know what that leads to...little girls pretending to be brides. And what better way to pretend to be a bride than to dress up in your mommy's wedding gown.
So here I sit, after enjoying a long walk around the neighborhood (something I hope to do nightly), continuing this blog from last year. I hope I am able to capture the memories of my three weeks here in Lake Oswego, Oregon so that my cousins can look back and remember the summer they spent with Cousin.
