CT Needs Fountains in the Park

This morning started off slow and simple. Gwynn wanted to play with her American Girl dolls but didn't want to mess up her room-she had worked so hard on it last night, picking things up off the floor. I offered up my room and the girls got started trekking things down. Beds, clothing, and of course the dolls. They played so nicely and quietly that I almost forgot that they were in there. By ten o'clock we were heading out since Auntie Mar had a meeting this morning.

Our first stop was the Lake Oswego Public Library. Each girl signed up for their summer reading program but when I tried I was denied since I didn't have a library card. Oh well...won't stop me from reading. Gwynn got out some Junie B. Jones books and books from the Fairy series. Paige stuck with the Bernstein Bears.

Next on the agenda was the fountain in Beaverton. This is located in a park next to the Beaverton library. It's basically a slab of cement with water fountains poking out all over. There is a nice grassy area that we set up the blanket at as well as some benches and a small playground. It didn't take long for the girls to start playing in the water. In between breaks from the water, the girls had lunch, played on the play structure, and swung on the swings. After a quick run to Kohls to find the missing flip flop, we made home where there was a surprising waiting. Auntie Mar had set up the new slide and pool for the girls. Immediately, the girls tried out the water.
We hung around for much of the afternoon, playing in the water, setting up the ladder golf, and chit chatting. We had dinner outside and took a walk down to a favorite dessert spot...Coldstone. Gwynn and Paige enjoyed vanialla with oreos while Auntie Mar enjoyed coffee with almonds. I tried a new concoction of banana ice cream with strawberries. It was delicious.

When we got home, the girls got in their pjs and we played Monopoly Junior outside. The girls were excited to see that it was the Disney Channel edition complete with Raven & High School Musical and Suite Life & Hannah Montana.

The day came to a close by getting a phone call from Uncle Mark in San Francisco. He had left this morning for a business trip. He was at the Cubs-Giants game, sitting three rows behind home plate. We found the game on tv and we all were excited when we saw him wave to us. It was quite the highlight of the day. We recorded it so that he can see it when he gets home tomorrow.

Tomorrow Auntie Mar is going into the office for a little while so the girls and I will chill at home with a possible trip to the lake in the afternoon. Til then, a quote from Paige during our walk home from Coldstone. As we turn the corner, another couple is walking with their dog. Gwynn asks them what kind of dog it is. They say, "Chihuauai Mix." Paige replys, "Mixed with what?"
