Painted by Hand

Paige began the day with excitement in her eyes. She couldn't wait until the arrival of her friend Hunter. We had arranged a play date for today with Hunter's mom. She was due to arrive at 10:00 but Paige continued to ask all morning when she was going to be here. She and I sat and watched a show on Disney, had some breakfast, and began getting ready for our day. The plan was that I was going to take all three girls to Dipinto a Mano for some painted pottery and then head straight to the lake with lunch in hand. Because of that I wanted to get the lunches all ready to go so that we could go straight to the lake (you know how difficult finding parking is). As I made the peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and put cookies, crackers & cheese, and fruit in a cooler, Paige got herself dressed. I heard the front door open and went to check on what was going on. There was Paige sitting on the bench waiting for her friend to arrive. I told her that she still had an hour before Hunter would be there. I thought if she made her bed and brushed her teeth that would help with the time. By this time, Gwynn was still sleeping so I also thought that waking her up would take some time away from Paige's waiting.

Needless to say both girls were ready and rearing to go by the time Hunter arrived. I had already packed all the lunches and had started to pack up the car as well. We were ready for the day ahead. We headed to Dipinto a Mano and spent some time picking out our pieces of pottery. My plan was to try and get all the girls to agree to make something like a cup or plate but that didn't really work. Instead, Paige chose a bunny rabbit (reminded me of the ceramic rabbit that my mom had once made), Hunter made a chihuahua ( complete with red body and purple face), Gwynn made a hamster (a copy of Nibbles), and I made an apple (how fitting for a teacher).

After the pottery place, we headed home for a quick change into our bathing suits and then it was off to the swim park. We spent the rest of the afternoon in the sun and water. The girls even convinced me to come in a couple times but that was just so they can jump of the dock in hopes of splashing me. It worked too.

All in all it was a good day. Paige was excited to have a friend visit and we all enjoyed each others company.
